Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS SCiM?

SCiM is a 10-day international student conference, where you hang out with people from all around the world, cooperate in different workshops and explore our beautiful country during a 2-day excursion around Slovenia.

WHERE IS SCiM?

SCiM takes place in Maribor, the second biggest city in Slovenia.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Everyone can apply but applicants, aged between 18 and 28 years old, who have valid student status at the time of the conference will be considered first.

HOW TO APPLY?

Simply by going to the “Application” part of the page and fill out the application form.

IS THERE A PARTICIPATION FEE?

Yes! Participants have to pay a participation fee of 100€. All the selected applicants will get the exact instructions on how to pay the participation fee.

WHAT DOES THE PARTICIPATION FEE INCLUDE?

The participation fee includes accommodation, food (dinner on the arrival day, three meals per day during the conference, breakfast on the departure day), workshop expenses, excursion and all the afternoon and evening activities.

CAN YOU PAY FOR MY TRAVEL EXPENSES?

Unfortunately, we don’t have the budget to offer financial support to participants regarding their travel costs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INVITATION LETTER AND A LETTER OF GUARANTEE?

Invitation letter – Every participant will receive an invitation letter. The letter explains that you are invited to SCiM (and that we provide you with the accommodation and food) and is signed by our main organizer and has a stamp from our student organization ŠOUM. These letters are sent out as soon as possible.

Letter of guarantee: This is an official document that is issued only to those participants that need the letter to acquire their visa. Please only ask for the letter of guarantee, if you need it. These letters are harder to obtain as they must be sent to the municipality to be officially notarized and signed by our government.

DO I GET A CONFIRMATION EMAIL AFTER I SUBMIT THE APPLICATION?

No. After you have applied, you should see a popup that says that your application submission was successful, but you will not receive a confirmation email on your email address. So make sure that your email address is written correctly in the form as otherwise, we won’t be able to inform you about the final results.
